Bill Ladd, denizen of this mortal coil yet half a century, spent most of his adult life as a professional musician, plying his trade in any number of regional and national acts and spending a great deal of time on the road.
Tiring of that grind and the utter insecurity of life as a working musician, Bill, at age 43, put on his thinking cap and came up with the only career choice that made sense – that of a professional actor.
How that could possibly make sense to anyone, you ask?
Well, many years ago Bill wound up with a handsome (to him) amount of capital after a divorce. He was then too faced with a potential life-changing decision. He certainly might have utilized that windfall to take care of a fair measure of his considerable debt. Or, he might just as easily use that money to attend race driving school, buy a race car and go racing.
You can see where this is headed I’m sure.
By the way–here’s some folks Bill has been produced by, directed by, or acted with–in a whole slew of motion pictures:
Terry Gilliam, Hank Williams III, Denzel Washington, Kris Kristofferson, Tony Scott, Meryl Streep, David Frankel, Jerry Bruckheimer, Renée Zellweger, Forest Whitaker, and Darryl Waltrip
